Guests to be culture vultures with Eton Collection
Encourage your customers to be ……. a culture vulture during their stay
All work and no play makes for a boring stay. There are masses of cultural events in the evenings for guests to combine with their meetings in the day.
This autumn sees the best of Edinburgh, Leeds and London culture come to life. Late evening opening hours ensure a visit to each ‘Capital’ can be combined with work and play.
Edinburgh
Visitors can brush up on their whisky appreciation skills at the Whisky Heritage Centre, a short walk from five star baronial hotel, The Scotsman. They can learn about the characters who helped carve the Whisky trade, and experience a ‘dram’ of Scotch Whisky homing in their nose and the taste. Evening tours can be pre-booked with the concierge.
The evening time is perfect for the Witchery Tour, a well-researched tour from city records, library documents and historical archives on ghosts, gore and the gruesome. Tours operate most evenings from the Royal Mile, just a short walk from stunning five star boutique hotel, The Glasshouse.

London
The long-awaited Hadrian Exhibition has opened at The British Museum celebrating the life, love and legacy of Rome’s most enigmatic emperor. Guests staying at the 5 star boutique hotel Threadneedles, in the City of London, are only three underground stops to view the show during its late evenings. The show runs till 26 October 2008.

Private tours around the Tate Modern and Tate Britain can be arranged, customised to a particular taste in art. Late evenings and multi-lingual tours are also available. Stay at Georgian boutique hotel The Academy, in London’s west end, and guests are a short underground trip to either exhibition.

Charming Victorian Townhouse, The Colonnade, London is located in Little Venice, just one stop from Paddington Station. The autumn heralds the start of the evening historical walking tours around London which cover a variety of topics such as hauntings, historical pubs, The River, Sherlock Holmes and Ancient London, all connectable by underground which is opposite the hotel.

Leeds
The historical Corn Exchange is reopening after a complete refurbishment creating Leeds’ first Food Emporium selling the local Yorkshire produce. The Exchange is just a few minutes walk from the cleverly converted 18th Century corn mill, 42 The Calls, which is located along the River Aire. Late night viewing hours are on Thursday evenings.
It’s concert season at Leeds Town Hall, just a few minutes walk from Quebecs, a boutique hotel crafted from an intricate Victorian Grade II listed building. Evening concerts feature the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, a James Bond orchestra music night, the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, just ask the concierge for further information and tickets.
An overview
The Eton Collection is a small boutique hotel group operating seven highly individual hotels in London, Leeds and Edinburgh. That they call the hotels a ‘Collection’ is no accident. Because for all their differences, the hotels share a collection of traits – traits that set them apart, that their customers value and that make them unique.
All hotels are restored historical buildings with quirky stories, homely touches and a splash of contemporary design. For example take Threadneedles, the cleverly converted Victorian banking hall in London. Or The Glasshouse, which uses the façade of a 150-year-old church in Edinburgh. Not to forget 42 The Calls carved from an 18th Century corn mill overlooking the River Aire.
Situated in prime city centre locations in London, Leeds and Edinburgh, all hotels are extremely close to the action; the best restaurants, near major corporate players, shopping areas and the main transport links. The hotels vary in size, from 43 to 69 bedrooms, so the staff can concentrate on offering you and your guests a sterling service.
