A 35-year-old ‘non-profit’ mutual association of 800 members, consisting of owners, co-owners, shareholders and CEOs of 1000 travel and tourism related companies.
Amavet offers its members, at very favourable conditions, personal insurance, casualty, medical, sanitary and pension fund services. The association is run by a 12 member Board of Directors elected for consecutive three-year periods. Amavet is presently capitalised at US $ 1 million.
The Chairman and CEO is Giorgio Potsios who is also “ex officio” a member of the Board of FIAVET, the Italian Federation of Travel Agents Associations.

A 13 year old ‘for profit’ company, capitalised at US $500,000, majority owned by Amavet. Other shareholders include the Associations of Travel Agents for Lombardy, Tuscany, Venice, Piedmont, Sicily, Bologna and Rome who act as agents of the company and offer Amavet Finanziaria’s services and products to those agencies whose owners are not (yet) members of Amavet. AMAVET BROKERAGGI ASSICURATIVI Srl, Roma
A registered broker, fully owned by Amavet Finanziaria and Amavet, capitalised at
US $50,000, presently managing over 3,000 policies on behalf of member agencies: most frequent policies cover bonding in favour of Italian regional authorities (for license to operate), general liability and guarantee vis-à-vis customers, guarantees for IATA, shipping and cruise companies, bus companies, tour operators, both italian and foreign. Casualty, fire theft, flood, etc. Life and pension plans.
TOURITEL Spa, Milano
The Internet Portal for Amavet and associated travel agencies, capitalised at US$500,000, operated jointly with a major technological partner. The Portal provides extensive Internet booking services and access to major tour operators, special tariffs, etc.
