Thistle Glasgow in £19 million refurbishment

With all of this in mind and to bring it to life, Thistle is transforming what they do, and how they do it with a £100 million refurbishment programme taking place, changing Thistle Hotels across the country.

One of the hotels which has seen tremendous changes is Thistle Glasgow. This hotel is the ideal base for exploring and enjoying what the city has to offer from galleries and museums to the ‘Golden Z’ shopping area. The hotel has 300 bedrooms and also offers 18 meeting rooms, including the luxurious and versatile Grand Ballroom which can cater for up to 1,500 guests and is Glasgow’s largest banqueting room. Plus there is a restaurant, lively bar and café all within the hotel.
Thistle Glasgow has been something of a flagship project for Thistle, with £19 million invested in upgrade and refurbishments throughout the hotel. A number of Executive Twin, Deluxe and King bedrooms have been completely transformed and include luxuries such as air-conditioning, LCD flat screen TVs and power showers.

The biggest improvement made at the hotel was to the Grand Ballroom, which followed a £1.2 million restoration and after all its refurbishments was crowned the Best Banqueting and Events Facility at the 2009 Scottish Hotel Awards.
The Robert Burns Suite also saw changes made along with all the meeting rooms on the 8th floor of the hotel, adding to the new contemporary look and feel across all Thistle hotels.
